Description:
This is a Winchester 1873 rifle in .38 WCF. The serial number indicates a build date of 1886. All finish has been stripped from the metal, apparently by some sort of wire brush, and the stock has been refinished. The magazine tube has been cut back from a full length tube to a half magazine, and the dovetail in the underside of the barrel plugged as can be seen by the photo included in this ad. The 24 inch octagon barel has visible rifling and a rough bore.
