Description:
Inv. 5706

Unknown Maker, (typical Belgian) Cal. Approx. .50, No serial number.

Looks like a typical Early 1800s Brass Cannon Barrel boot pistol. A little unique in that it has a hammer safety that is not generally found on these small guns. The condition is really pretty nice. The wood grip on the right side has a small chip.  The gun functions properly and is quite tight. The nipple is battered and the iron trigger guard does have evidence of some rust. The back and the sides of the grips have the remnants of some silver inlays. The sides of the brass frame are tastefully engraved. You can see that this gun, at one point, was an inexpensive and quickly thrown together "cheapie”. The general appearance is really quite nice. While not suggested as a home defense weapon it would make a lovely gift or a charming decorative piece.......$185.
