Description:
20 gauge, 3″ chambers. This finely crafted gun by this renowned firm has 29″ barrels fitted with a flat, matted, solid rib. “Famars - ITALY is on the top left barrel. Barrel flats are stamped with Italian nitro proofs, the serial number and “A&S”. Coin finished action features automatic safety and single non-selective trigger. Action and sideplates are engraved with various game bird scenes with acanthus covering the remainder of the action, top lever, trigger guard and forend iron. The left sidelock features a pair of flying quail with a third sitting in grass. The right sidelock has a pair of woodcock flying through timber. The bottom of the action has a rooster pheasant taking flight from tall grass. EXCALIBUR FAMARS is engraved above the rooster. INC. Venzi is signed on the bottom right side of the action next to the trigger plate. The nicely figured walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14″ length of pull over a serrated butt. Stock and forend feature a very well cut point pattern checkering. Bore diameter: top -.624, bottom -.625. Bore restrictions: top -.019 (MOD), bottom -.011 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 6.8 lbs. Condition: Excellent, near to new, with some very light evidence of having been fired since proof, with a few very light handling marks on the forend and light wear at the muzzles and the top of the rib (most likely from the case). Mechanically crisp. Fine quality leather case with stitched leather corners is lined in scarlet velvet, label is missing from the lid. Case contains pair of leather buckled straps. Case leather has some light scuffs, mainly on the corners. Interior lightly soiled, with some compressions and rubs.
