Description:
SOLD...Antique Colt single action MFG in 1885 with factory letter and antique holster. Here is an honest ole Colt SA... Comes with the factory letter{$150 value} and is all correct and an antique double loop holster that fits perfectly for the 5 1/2" barrel. This Colts has a 5 1/2 barrel that you don't see very often in the early years MFG. Most you see in this range have 7 1/2" or 4 3/4" barrels. The S/N is 104755 and made in 1885. ALL s/n match in the 5 locations and are on the barrel, cylinder , frame , trigger guard and back strap. It has no finish remaining and has been lightly clean long ago. The metal is starting to take on a little patina and is mostly a medium gray color. It does show some light to moderate pitting in a couple areas on the cylinder and a spot on the top strap. You can tell the gun has laid on it's side for a while. A little bit of pitting on the muzzle and the back strap has pin prick type pitting and not very deep. This is why the gun has been cleaned to remove the surface crud and rust and has kept the gun from getting worse. Probably not a bad decision and it was done very well and was not filed on or abrasive. The action is very good and it indexs perfectly on all chambers. A little loose on the lock up and is not tight as new but no wobble on the cylider and no front rear movement. All the hammer notche are there with 4 strong clicks. The lock up is an easy repair with a new cylinder stop. The barrel address is a little light but readable as you can see. The frame PAT markings are very nice and still has the 45 CAL markings on the trigger guard bow. The one piece grips have been sanded and are under sized but still fit OK. No cracks or chips.. The bore is well above average from what I usually see in these older Colts SA's.. It will shoot just fine with proper black powder loads of course. The chambers are excellent and clean. The front sight is full and never filed on or messed with. It still retains the correct flared ejector rod head and original housing for all of you who know what should be correct in this time period. Has the correct medium length knurling on the hammer for the time period also.  The cylinder base pin only is a later replacement with no hole on the end but was probably  done to keep the cylinder tight. I have some old worn out original base pins and will include one with the gun.. This is much more honest Colt SAA than you will usually see and is priced right. Yes it has a few warts but I am not asking $5000 for it either. The double loop holster is made for a 5 1/2" barreled Colt SA. The top 1 inch of stiching has been replaced but other than that, it is sold and still be used today. I forgot to get the holster in the photos but if you want a photo of it with the gun, just let me know.  Also the factory letter lets the buyer know he is not buying a pieced together "parts gun" that you see so much of today. I think I have it price very fairly with the extra "goodies". Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $35 insured shipping. Don't miss this one. I do not usually deal in these but it is an honest one and was priced right.... Pass the savings on to you.. Thank you for looking nad please check out my other quality items while you are here..
