I am offering this John Rigby hammer double rifle. Held in a fitted relined leather case. The 26" barrels have excellent bores with great Rigby style rifling. The non-rebounding locks work well and the Jones underlever locks up nicely.
The buttstock is an older replacement that is very well done. 15" LOP to the
original steel buttplate. This is chambered for the .500/.450 #1 Express. This is
a .500-3" case trimmed to 2 3/4" for a .458 bullet. The loading was for 110 gr.
of black powder and a 270gr. lead bullet. This caliber is an excellent deer, black bear or wild boar cartridge. The Rigby has a nice feel when shouldered and points well. It weighs 8 lb 10 oz. The barrels are a even brown with a small bit of exterior pitting. Blade front sight with one standing and 3 folding rear sights.
It is cased in a vintage leather case that has been relined and comes with a old nickel over pewter oil bottle, a horn pin bottle, Ebony handled turnscrew
and a loaded cartridge shown alongside a .308 for comparison. This would make a great vintage hunting rifle as well as a nice addition to your collection. I am always interested in partial trades and you can get more information at 760 497 7835 or by email. Thanks for looking.
