Description:
***   SOLD PENDING FUNDS   ***   What a beautiful Scottish hammer grouse gun! Recently refurbished in the UK. Serial number 1614 was made by this famous Scottish maker in Edinburgh circa 1875. Number 2 of a pair. Sleeved with 30” nitro steel barrels. Remnants of the original case colouring are visible on the sidelocks and frame. As is typical of guns from this era a small amount of pitting is visible on the breech face. It has rebounding hammers, extractors, unsprung strikers, double triggers, and a Deeley-Edge forearm latch. The action can be opened with the hammers cocked. The locks were made by Joseph Brazier who also supplied locks for Boss & Co. Weight is 7lb 2oz.   ***   The 30” nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” cartridges. The right barrel is bored 0.730 with a constriction of 0.007 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.029. The left barrel is bored 0.732 with a constriction of 0.017 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026. Topped with the original raised solid concave game style rib inscribed “Joseph Harkom & Son  32 Princes Street Edinburgh”.   ***   The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made from an exquisite highly figured piece of walnut and the checkering is crisp. Most likely a recent professional restock. The dimensions are 15-3/8” including a 1” brown leather pad by 1-3/8” by 2-1/8”. Cast off for the right hand shooter.  ***   If you’ve ever been on a Scottish grouse moor you already know why you should own this gun.   ***   Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the gun is not as described in the listing.
