Description:
Winchester Model 53 TD Rifle - Cal. .44 W.C.F. - 22" Bbl - SN 2xx(1924). Perfect bore and action - tight take-down assy. Excellent metal with no rust, pits, or corrosion, etc. Barrel, magazine tube, and forend cap retain 98% blue - receiver 90% to 95% showing carrying wear on the bottom. This 53 may have had a tang sight installed at one time as there is a light mark on the upper tang. Wood is excellent , undamaged and shows exceptional grain and striping - this 53 has the special order crescent buttplate that retains 95% blue. An all original and overall excellent 1st year production M-53 with special order crescent buttplate and take-down in the very desirabl;e .44 caliber. About 16,000 of these manufactured 1924-1941 but few in the take-down configuration and only about 2500 in .44 caliber. An outstanding example of a scarce early Winchester 53 that will make a super collectible and investment !
