Description:
S# 511, 42 long rimfire, 26 inch half Octagon barrel, bright excellent bore. This rifle was built from 1860 into the late 1870's and remains in very good condition with 65% blue on barrel with scattered light stains and a few dings. Frame and first type trapdoor butt plate have developed a dark patina. Takedown tool is missing. Wood has typical handling marks and probably had some oil wiped on long ago. A repaired crack shows behind top tang with three small areas of filler. Allen's adjustable rear sight is mounted on the receiver and top tang is set up for Allens tang peep sight, hole has a filler plug. A very good example with correct rear sight and desirable 26 inch barrel. Antique
