Description:
Serial #19182, .54 Caliber, 21” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a very small amount of mild freckling within the grooves. This is a very nice carbine that has an overall mellow plum-brown on the metal with some slight fading at the muzzle, and muted, but still visible, color case-hardening on the frame. Likewise, brilliant original fire blue still shines through on the breechblock, lever, and wrist tang under a thin layer of plum-brown freckling. The walnut forend and buttstock have some small handling blemishes scattered about the original oil finish with crisp cartouches on the left side of the wrist, and some minor chips along the edges of the lockplate. The mechanical lock-up is solid and the action functions flawlessly. This is a very nice example of a Civil War Burnside in fine condition. Antique
