STATES WAR OF 1812 FLINTLOCK MUSKET. .69 caliber smoothbore musket with 43” barrel. Lock stamped “U.STATES” with the “U” worn and not visible. Stamped “NEW HAVEN” in front of the hammer. Original flint with all the original parts including the ramrod. Scarce early type with the desirable “U. STATES’ lock marking which was seen on only the first guns of the 5000 gun contract by the Federal Government for the War of 1812. Very good overall. Shows the kind of wear overall of a War used musket but is very handsome none the less. Only addition is a screw at the top of the breech which is very old and probably filled a screw in sight base of some kind. Original frizzen face plate rivets attached to the back of the plate for new face which is often seen on a well used musket of that period. Quite scarce and a nice all original example.
