Fox Sterlingworths in 16ga. are seen often enough. Anybody who has watched the vintage gun market realizes that the 16ga. Sterlingworth value has been discovered, as they are all built on the diminutive 20ga. frame and handle better than most all other American built 16's. The prices have gone up significantly with the really nice 16ga. guns being bought up, thereby reducing the available guns on the market. This gun, sn363788 made in 1928, is unusual because it is one of a small percentage that was shipped with ejectors, a much preferred option in today's shotgun world. The gun has been carried and hunted, evidenced by the minor marks on the wood. but it has been cared for well and the factory orginal metal and wood is in great condition. At 6lbs. 3oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin, it demonstrates the true delight of a fine vintage American double gun! The mechanics are excellent, as are the screws and checkering, and the stock is 14 1/8" to the original butt plate. The 26" #3 weight barrels have excellent bores, factory choked at SK/F, minimum wall thickness of 31 thousandths, double ivory beads, and lots of original blue. Gun has great stock dimensions for the modern shooter, which is really hard to find on a Sterlingworth. This is a gun that will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use.
