Description:
A early production Ithaca 1911A1, serial number 898xxx, manufactured at the beginning of 1943. Ithaca received the first government contract in late 1942, but in order to meet their production schedule, was forced to buy some parts from Colt Mfg. Co.. These early 1943 guns, therefore, are made up of a combination of Ithaca and Colt parts. This 1911A1 is in excellent, original condition, with all major parts made by Colt or Ithaca, and only a few minor replacement small parts. These are the first 1911A1's to have the new parkerized finish, and this gun shows very little wear, with 95% of that original finish remaining. The bore shows very little wear and is near perfect, as are the Ithaca/Keyes Fiber Co. grips. Early Ithacas in this condition are very seldom encontered.
