We are offering for sale an Antique Percussion Rifle marked for two separate makers. The sidelock is marked for H.E. LEMAN of LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA. The heavy octagonal barrel is marked for J. RICKETS of MANSFIELD, OH. This is a very nice example of their work. 29 ½” heavy octagon barrel is good with signs of wear; patina. The barrel is marked to the breach side of the rear sight “J. RICKETS – MANSFIELD, OH”. It is also marked “F.H. GROVE” just in front of the nose cap; This name may have been the original owner. Caliber appears to be .36 or .38. Ramrod appears to be a later replacement. The sidelock is marked for “H.E.LEMAN” of LANCASTER, PA. Lock shows faint scroll engravings. Both side locks show wear; patina. DOUBLE TRIGGERS with set trigger are very good and in fully functioning condition. Hammer holds tightly back and fires forward quite well. The TIGER STRIPE MAPLE stock is very good with signs of handling wear. NO BREAKS OR CRACKS to stock. Everything is as solid as the day it was made. Brass trigger guard and crescent butt plate. This rifle was made in the latter half of the 19th Century and remains a VERY NICE SPECIMEN!
