Description:
Fox CE 12 Gauge SxS Shotgun
LIGHT WEIGHT #4 BARRELS, 28", GREAT DIMENSION

General Specs: Fox, Year 1916, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 12oz, Side by Side
Serial Number: 23118

The A.H. Fox C Grade is adorned with nicely figured wood, finely checkered including the side panels at the head of the stock, and some of the nicest scroll and game scene engraving observed on any vintage American double.  It is a classy and elegant double gun.  This gun, sn 23118, is a Philly Fox built in 1916 when really nice guns were being made.  Like most all Fox guns, it is a delight in hand, balanced on the hinge pin and weighing in at a svelte 6lbs. 11oz.  The recently deceased author and noted double gun expert Michael McIntosh brought the Fox gun to the forefront of the collector/shooter’s world with the book “A.H. Fox, ‘The Finest Gun in the World’”.  McIntosh seemed to agree with Ansley H. Fox that the action on the Fox shotgun was likely the best box lock action on the planet in its simplicity, diminutive size, and perfect proportions.  Fox shotguns are highly sought after and have appreciated in value significantly in the past several years.  Finding any vintage American side by side that weighs under 6 3/4lbs. is a needle in a haystack, especially with 28" barrels.  This is a wonderful, honest Fox for your 12ga. hunting and clay target needs and will be a wise investment that will earn you money while you enjoy its use.

This gun matches the factory order card precisely (see photo of card) except no mention of pad.  Barrels, chokes, weight, LOP, drop at heel all match the way it was shipped.  You see a fair number of CE Fox 12ga. guns for sale, but a scant few with this combination of weight, balance, shooting dimensions, and 28" barrels.  The engraving is very nice and superior.  What a nice gun to carry for pheasants, upland game, or shooting a few clays.  RSTshells has spreader loads that work exceptionally well at making this an IC/M gun without altering it.  Don't miss this one!
