Description:
Army & navy retailed Rook Rifle in 250 rook caliber. This example shows an octagonal 26" barrel with a bright good to very good bore. This rifle was probably built by Webley for A&N. The serial number 800885 at the head of the frame where webley normally marked their following block rifles. See fig 342 of Vol 7 British single shot rifles. This piece shows most of the Rook Rifles as built by Webley see page 322 to 328 of the above. This piece shows its original sights and anti glare grooving behind both sights. The barrel shows added blue and light spotted pitting on the right side barrel flat. The action shows grey case color and fine edge and floral engraving. The wood is sound and solid with normal usage marks the checkering is original . The butt shows 14 1/2" LOP. A good example of an army & navy retailed and Webley built rook rifle.
