Description:
NSN, .54 caliber, 8 1/2” barrel with a fair, dark bore. The barrel and “US/H. ASTON”, 1847 dated lock have an overall dark plum-brown patina with moderate pitting along the barrel, heaviest at the breech, on the nipple bolster, and along the lockplate and hammer. The brass furniture has developed a dark yellow-ochre patina throughout with dark impact marks and surface blemishes scattered about the surface. The walnut stock is in very good condition with an added military oil finish over numerous minor handling marks and scratches and some moderate wear surrounding the bolster. There is a short, with-the-grain crack on the left side at the rear sideplate screw, as well as a long chip in the wood forming at the rear of the lockplate. The cartouches are no longer legible and the attached ramrod is original. The lock is still tight and fully functional and the pistol rates good plus-very good overall. Antique
