This .22 has been sitting in a family closet for decades. I can’t see that it’s ever been fired. My brother-in-law may have received it as a present when we were both 12 years old. He was just not a gun guy. Never was. Everything on it is perfectly dry, including the ‘magazine follower’. If used, you’d think it would get some lubrication. I can’t find any dings or scratches on stock or barrel to indicate use. I looked down the barrel the best I could. It appears spotless and shiny. The Serial number on the box is 436959. The serial marks on the rifle barrel are O K R with a 55 below and to the right. These are a mystery to me. O and K would indicate July 1963 by my Remington research, a date that would make my brother-in-Law 12 years old, and a good .22 gift year age. But the third letter is not common and I couldn’t find any explanation. I would guess this is a 50 year old rifle. The box is not perfect but it is still solid and not broken or torn. It had a danged panty hose sticker over the squirrel on the left side. Lord knows where that came from. I tried to lift it without tearing paper off but wasn’t too lucky. The duct tape to hold it together these last few years is my fault. I didn’t want the rifle falling out. If the box condition is important, I screwed up. The operation instructions and parts listing sheet is pristine. I had one of these myself many years ago. I’d drooled over the ads in the Boy Scout Magazine I’m clueless where mine is now. If I had a grandkid, I’d save it. Thanks. Henry
