SCARCE SMITH & WESSON 1ST MODEL D.A. .44-40 FRONTIER 6 ½” REVOLVER CIRCA 1890. Serial numbered in the 12,xxx range. All matching and original example with the desirable longest barrel made in this model and caliber. Distinctive two rows of stop notches on the cylinder. Two line “SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD, MASS.” Barrel address with 1871, 1875 and 1877 patent dates. Original factory “S&W” logo hard rubber grips. Very good condition with crisp dark patina with traces of of nickeland blue on the trigger guard. Modestly worn grips with small chip at top rear of right flat. Both grip “S&W” logos in nice condition. Excellent working order and excellent bore and chambers. Favorite gun of Texas Gunfighter John Wesley Harden and Belle Starr-“Bandit Queen of Indian Territory”. Very colorful.
