Description:
GREAT CONDITION SCARCE DEPRESSION ERA 1899-H, 20" CARBINE IN DESIRABLE .30-30 CALIBER, #356XXX, MADE LATE 1930s, As I've written before (see bottom of this site for  "Notes From the Field" on this topic) the gun manufacturers of this time fired most of their workers and kept only the best craftsmen on the payroll, so the products turned out during this period of limited production were some of the best ever produced, this is a fairly scarce variation with shotgun butt plate (introduced in 1938- according to the Savage book), rounded forearm and marked "Savage" over "Model 99" on the receiver ring, beautiful condition example with about all the deep blue remaining on the barrel and receiver with only very minor freckling/ageing at worst, exc.+ wood with no cracks or chips, has sling swivels with the front acting as the single screw in the forearm that may be factory installed, exc. vivid case colors on the sides of the lever and some remaining on the bottom too, buckhorn rear sight with blade/bead front sight, tight action, minty bright bore, brass rotor magazine, a truly great design that is too expensive to produce today!
