These have the unique feature of the sliding bayonet where the cleaning rod would be and have a dual purpose of being a somewhat flimsy bayonet or used as a cleaning rod. It was actually a good idea. This one is just under the 550k serial range. A good looking gun with a lot of orig metal finish. Mostly blue on the bbl. Some light aging. Receiver still has hints of case colors, especially on the inside of the breech block. Nice solid pivot pin and lock up. The bore is VG+. The only detracting thing is that someone put a coat of heavy varnish on it. Front adjustment screw on the Buffington sight is missing. Cartouche is visible but unreadable. Overall good condition wood. Leroy Merz Antique Firearms specializes in antique and vintage Winchesters and other fine American firearms.
