Description:
SALE PENDING. Civil War imported Pattern 1853 Percussion Rifled Musket in .577 Caliber.  Both the Union and Confederacy imported approximately 900,000 commercially manufactured Enfields during the Civil War.  This one was manufactured in Birmingham in 1862 given its date on the lockplate and Birmingham proofs on the barrel.  Standard 39" round barrel secured by 3 bands and brass furniture.  This particular rifle along with its original bayonet came from out West.  The metal and wood in a remarkable state of preservation.  The European walnut has never been cleaned or had any extra finish added and still retains its original light color.  There is even some original blue on the barrel along the forend line and around the barrel bands with the balance turned to either an age darkened blue or a light brown patina.  Bore still has its original 3 groove rifling intact. Original Bayonet is in very good condition.  This is a nice complete Civil War Enfield that that is well above most Civil War era Infantry Muskets.
