NORTH U.S.N. MODEL 1826 CONVERSION PISTOL W/FT. SMITH, ARKANSAS HISTORY. Old semi-relic percussion conversion of a rare North Flintlock 1826 Navy Pistol from the long defunct Henry Clay Hampson Museum of Ft. Smith Arkansas largely formed by Dr. James Hampson his father, the Ft. Smith town doctor early in the 20th Century. Many of the items collected by Dr. Hampson were collected long before WW2 from patients and donors and were listed in his inventory log book with notations as to where he got them. This North Navy pistol is item number “2” in the log and is noted as “Percussion Lock Pistol steel frame, 1820 stamped on lock, used by River Pirate on Arkansas River. Presented by Capt. Early, C.S.A.”. Lock plate on the pistol is stamped “182-“ with the last digit worn as is the “S. North” above the “U.S.” forward of the hammer. Old tag with penciled number “2” affixed to trigger guard. Quite colorful and worthy of further research. SOLD Antique: Yes |
