Description:
Sold Pending Funds / US Springfield Armory Model 1816 Flintlock Musket, serial # None, cal. 69 smooth bore, with a 41 1/4” barrel that's turned to a brown patina. The left side of the barrel is stamped with Eagle Head proof and the lock plate is marked "SPRINGFIELD" in front of the hammer with a faint trace of the Eagle. This musket retains all three barrel bands with band springs and both sling swivels, the iron buttplate and comes with its original iron ramrod. The iron trigger guard is rounded at both ends and has a screw fastened swivel. The black walnut stock has a slight crack behind the barrel securing screw and another in the left bottom of the buttstock neither of which I would call drastic or alarming. This musket functions flawlessly, sparks nicely when trigger is pulled and the flint on the hammer hits the striker plate but considering its age I don't recommend shooting it. The overall condition as photographed and described is good - good plus. Inv.: # 22-169
