Description:
1887 John Dickson Hammer Gun: Re-barreled, 30 inch steel, chopper lump barrels, London proofs, 2001 2 3/4 inch, (70mm), 900 BAR. SN 4091. Chokes R. .001 L. .021. Beautiful figured wood, no cracks, chips. There is one small plug repair in forend, barely visible. Stock measurements are LOP 14 3/8, DAC 1 5/8, DAH 2 3/8, Cast off approx. 1/4 inch. The butt plate is the original horn plate.  Gun is clean, tight on face, and a great shooter for game and much fun for "clays."  The face of the right hammer shows a little more wear than the left, as typical of old hammers, but both locks/hammers function perfectly with good trigger pulls. The new barrels, according to a letter from Dickson, are not Dickson. But Dickson says that they do match the specs of the original 30 inch barrels as they were also 30" steel and with similar chokes. In that day, steel was not yet as preferred as damascus barrels. Wt. 6' 10oz.
