Description:
This is a handsome  English officers Model Flintlock pistol  c. 1780, with a round  9" brass barrel. The overall length is 14 & 1/4". with a full walnut stock. The lock, hammer, trigger guard and barrel tang are engraved. There is a wooden ramrod.. The metal and wood are in excellent condition. The lock and hammer  and the side screws are all bright -either steel or nickel plated. The rest of the metal ( barrel, trigger guard, side plate) are all brass. There are two clear Birmingham proof marks on the left side of the barrel. The style of this pistol is similar to those made by Ketland, Fisher and Richard Wilson and I believe one of them was the maker.   So you  should ask at this point, "why is the price so low?" Answer- the lock is not functional, and the screw holding the hammer to the lock is broken and has been glued to the hammer. The hammer cannot be moved as a result. The frizzen works fine.  The pistol looks beautiful and unless you were planning on holding up a bank, you might say, what difference does it make. It would look great   in a case or hanging on the wall. Or, you could repair the lock and hammer and have a flintlock worth $1500- to $1800-

This is an antique, so no FFL is required. It can be shipped directly to the new owner.
