Serial Number: 1G 28637
The Browning A-5 is a very sought after collectible shotgun, especially when in high original condition. This gun, sn1G 28637 made in 1961 (long before the salt wood debacle and the flat knob stock), has the most desirable long tang trigger guard and round knob stock that was with the A-5 until about 1966. The metal on the gun is 99% factory finish with no flaws and only slight wear on the edges. The 26" Vent Rib barrel has mirror bore and is choked IC and is so marked. The wood appears to have new finish on it so my guess is the old finish had crazing in it and someone restored it. Brownings are infamous for crazing or crackling finishes. There is not any evidence of a single scratch or depression having ever been in the wood, so it was in awesome shape prior to finish being added. 14 1/2" LOP to the factory butt plate without a crack or split or repair anywhere. This is a beautiful gun with perfect screws, clear sharp lettering and engraving, 100% gold on the trigger, all in perfect condition.
