Description:
The desirable saddle ring carbine, this one being in 38 Cal. Standard configuration carbine with 1873 marked ladder sight and of course a saddle ring. Somewhat early gun being under 200k serial range. Good looking patina to the gun being mostly a brownish/grey coloration with some age blotching mostly towards the muzzle. Relatively smooth metal, very readable bbl address. Likewise the frame is about the same color being mostly the antique brown with traces of blue in protected areas. The bore on this gun is a bit crusty and needs a good cleaning, does have decent rifling. Wood for a carbine is quite good, dings, gouges, scratches all four corners are good and no visible cracking to the butt stock. Very light hairline crack coming off of the forearm which just about all of these old guns have. Otherwise forearm quite nice also. Kind of worn where it meets the frame. This was used as a cowboy gun. Good piece of Old West History.
