These carbines were a favorite with the hard riding and fighting Confederates. This example shows 30-40% original blue on the barrel and mild case colors on the lock . It has a perfect original nipple and crisp lock action. When I removed the lock for inspection the cavity is so nice and clean I doubt the gun has been used much ,the wood not being oil soaked or discolored at all. The bore is 95% and shows bright clean rifling. All parts appear to be original to the gun and it even retains the original swivel type loading rod that was typically thrown away. The sights are the correct war time sights and there are no post war modifications. The barrel shows the correct London export proof marks. The gun does have a very very faint anchor /S inpection stamp in front of the buttplate tang but is almost impossible to photo--but it is there if you know what to look for --it being a well known Confederate inspection and acceptance mark as per the new book The English Connection. Buyer to pay $45.00 shipping --3 day inspection if returned exactly as sent and prepaid with insurance--that means no firing or taking it apart ! SOLD Antique: Yes |
