Description:
SOLD...Antique 1894 Winchester. His is a nice antique 1894 Winchester. It is in the very sought after caliber 38-55. It has the standard 26" octagon barrel. The S/N is 69739 and made in 1896. The bore is very good. It shows strong rifling all the way through. It does have some minor roughness as is common from black powder but NO big pits or craters and NO rings or bulges. The mechanics are excellent. It feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. The gun has no finish remaining. The receiver sides have been cleaned and are a gray patina color. Has a little bit of pin prick pitting on the upper right side. Nothing bad or deep into the metal at all. The barrel is a medium brown patina with just traces of blue on the bottom barrel flat. It also has some pitting that is above the forearm on both sides as you can se in the photos. It is deeper pitting and looks like could be from blood. It is not to noticable but it is there. The mag tube has no dents or pitting and is smooth. All the markings are excellent. It has the original rear sight that has been filed down on top as you see on so many of these old rifles. {see photos}.. The front sight looks like a little later replacement with a bead. It has an excellent sight pichture when sighting down the barrel. All the screw heads are sharp and not all burred up. The wood is excellent throughout. The forearm fits tight and above the metal and has never been cleaned or sanded on. NO cracks or slivers but has one tiny chip in front of the receiver on the bottom as you can see in the photo of the S/N. That is it. Just a couple very small and minor usage dings. The butt stock is excellent as well. NO cracks or splits. Again, just a couple minor scratches and usage dings. Still fits tight and above the metal in most places. Still has quite a bit of the original varnish remaining and has never been cleaned on or sanded. The wood is excellent on this ole antique 94. Not all oil soaked and still has good color. Pretty nice and honest antique 94 with an octagon barrel and the number one caliber for this model. These antique 94's and the 92's are getting harder to find in decent condition at reasonable prices any more. This one is priced fairly and would make someone an excellent shooter or lower condition collector either way. $50 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.
