U.S. Agents, New York: A Auguste Francotte Model 14E in 16 Bore delivered to A&F August 21,1935 to the New York store, 26" Ejector Rib Extension Crossbolt, It is .668 .002 & .016" (Cyl. & Mod.), Original 2 3/4" chambers, Original bore size proved at 16.9mm, Wall thickness on the right at .031" & .029" on the left, Double triggers, Splinter forend with an Anson release, Open pistol grip stock at 14 3/16 x 1 9/16 x 2 3/4" over the original horn buttplate, Neutral stock, Nice game gun weight of 5 lbs. 13 oz., 70% coverage of very nice scroll that is as sharp as the day it was cut, Deeper chiseled engraving on the balls of the action, Very nice European walnut with very nice color and contrast, Checkered and carved panels at the head of the stock, It has 2 locking screws for key screws, This piece is 1935 original on both metal and wood, It retains 45% original case colors, The original barrel blue is 88-90%, The stock finish is at 85%, The checkering remains at 96%, The barrels inside & out are excellent plus. It is tight on the face and overall a really nice gun; One of the best out of Belgium, great 1935 vintage, very nice engraving and comes to hand with ease with what I think is great stock dimensions. /////////////////////////////////// This gun arrived at A&F August 21, 1935 and sold to Mrs. H.F. Hill on September 20, 1935 for the sum of $225.00. This gun cost A&F $78.00 and they paid $7.64 in excise tax upon the sale. The high grade gun trade back then certainly had better margins to deal with then current dealers, my how times have changed.
