Description:
Holland & Holland Best Quality Magazine Rifle .270 Winchester (s/n 41xx; ca. 1987).
Built on an Original Pre War DWM Military Action (standard length) with the original non-hinged floor plate engraved “4 Cartridges”, trigger guard is engraved w/ the serial number, flag safety is marked “SAFE” in gold and rifle includes a sliding “stalking” safety on right side of action’s tang. This rifle has a 26” quickly tapered barrel engraved “Holland & Holland 33 Bruton St. London” down the top, H&H Tip Off side mount, 30mm rings are engraved w/ the serial number and “H&H”. Nicely figured European walnut w/ a 14 1/2" LOP over a thin Silver's type pad, stock has the famous pre-war slim stock shape, horn tip, wrap pattern flat top checkering w/ mullered borders, right hand “pancake” style cheekpiece, gold oval engraved “CKT” with stud rear swivel and barrel band front swivel, case hardened trap grip cap and engraved single cross bolt. Sights are a folding leaf rear sight (lays flat for scope) and Holland’s front sight w/ folding hood. In maker’s original leather case. Gun weighs 7 lbs 11 oz.
Original 1987 London proofs on barrel w/ excellent bore, original London black is 97% overall and original stock varnish shows signs of hunting and is about 90% to 92% overall. Mechanically very sound and ready to hunt.
