Description:
Chambered in 45-70 with 22" barrel and hardwood stock. Stock has been repaired just forward of the trigger guard with 4 pins. Lock markings include eagle and US/Springfield. Serial 3441xx, this carbine is an earlier production model which utilized a breech block from the 1873 leftover stock. Breechblock is stamped US/Model/1873. Carbine is fitted with correct Buffington rear sight stamped "C". This piece also features the government alteration to the front sight incorporating a barrel band with high hump to act as a buffer to protect the sight.
The firearm is in original condition with very little of the original finish to the barrel and various metal parts. Barrel is stamped with eagles head and VP. Buttplate features swinging compartment door and is stamped US. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
