Colt Single Action Army 3rd Generation in scarce .44-40 with 4 ¾” bbl., SN SA57XXX. Manufactured in 1981 the .44-40 is the rarest of the new model standard calibers. A total of 2,628 revolvers were manufactured in this caliber & only 582 in the same configuration as this one as noted on page 101 of Wilkerson’s “The Post War Colt Single Action Revolver 1976-1986”. Features standard markings & fitted with checkered hard rubber American eagle grips. Includes Colt factory woodgrain box numbered to the revolver with papers. Condition is excellent with 99% original blue & case hardened finish with only light handling marks. Grips are excellent, mechanically excellent; the box is fair with a torn flap & heavy edge & corner wear.
