Description:
Holland & Holland Model DeLuxe Take Apart Mauser .338 Win. Mag. (s/n: 3953 ca. 1978).
Built on an original DWM 1908 Mauser action (standard length) made for the Brazilian Gov’t between 1935 and 1938.
Bottom metal has an inside trigger bow release and straddle floor plate engraved with full coverage floral pattern marked “Model DeLuxe” inside a ribbon and “3 cartridges” on front of the floor plate, trigger guard is engraved w/ the serial number, flag safety is marked “SAFE” in gold and rifle includes a sliding “stalking” safety on right side of action’s tang. This rifle has a 26” medium weight barrel engraved “Holland & Holland 13 Bruton Street London” down the top. Rear island sight has a standing express sight and one folding leaf and Holland’s front sight w/ folding hood. Nicely figured and dark European walnut w/ Monte Carlo beaded cheekpiece typical of 1970’s vintage guns, a 14 3/8" LOP over a leather covered pad, wrap pattern point checkering w/ mullered borders, blank gold oval, stud rear swivel and barrel band front swivel, case hardened trap grip cap (still contains spare front sight wrapped in wax paper) and an engraved single cross bolt. Gun weighs 9 lbs 0 oz.
Gun is in 99% original condition w/ original 1978 London proofs on barrel w/ excellent bore. Screw heads for the “Take Apart” system are not fouled and no chips or cracks in the stock from improperly being put together. A very nice Model DeLuxe from Holland’s!
