This is the history oif the 42nd Virginia Infantry, written by John Chapla, as part of the Virginia Regimental Series, published 1n 1983 by E. H. Howard Publishing. This is a first edition copy, signed by the author and numbered 253 of the 1,000 First Edition published. It has a total of 147 pages. With the book are inserts reflecting additional information provided in the second and third editions. This book is part of a primary reference series on each of the Virginia regiments that fought in the "War of Rebellion","The War of Northern Aggression", "The Late Unpleasantness", or "The Civil War", as you prefer to call it. The book includes descriptions of the regiment's formation and recruitment, its organizational structure, all engagements, and its leadership. Information on the background and war record of individual members of the regiment is also provided by alphabetical name at the end of the book. There are some personal images and maps included.
