Description:
Serial #151201, .38 Colt, 6” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has mild freckling within the grooves. This is a 1901-made revolver that retains 90-92% of the original blue finish that has silvered along the barrel towards the muzzle, on the projecting edges, and on the bearing surfaces. Small specks of minor surface freckling are present on both sides of the frame and there are some light turn-rings on the cylinder. The trigger and hammer still have bright original fire blue remaining and there are some spots of dark freckling within the flutes. The walnut grips are unnumbered and are in fine shape with clear “RAC” cartouche on the left panel. The wood has numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes scattered throughout the original finish. The lock-up is still quite tight and the action is fully functional. This is a very nice example of a 1901 Colt .38 Army revolver and is in fine-near excellent condition overall. {Ref: “A Study of Colt's New Army and Navy Pattern Revolvers 1889 to 1908” by Robert Best; 2004} FFL or C&R
