HIGH FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION

This is one of those little M42's you hope to find...1949 vintage, unmolested in anyway. Sooooo many of the M42's have been altered, either in the course of their use by previous owners, or by questionable sellers trying to sell a gun as something it is not. Sorry to say it, but that is prevalent with these guns. So when we find one like this one, sn82233 made in 1949, with 99% factory barrel blue, 99% factory receiver and trigger guard blue, and 98% factory original stock finish, mirror bore, factory original length of pull to the factory butt plate, perfect screws and little signs of use, we have found a real treasure. The original lacquer finish on the stock does show some crazing, as you would expect from that finish only if it was original (we will restore the wood to factory perfect for an added charge of $375 within 6 weeks of purchase if the new owner so chooses. We are leaving it original). The butt stock is correct as showing the pre-war pistol grip that stayed into production until 1951. The slide handle is the proper post war 14 groove handle that went into production in 1945. The 26" plain barrel is choked in the hard to find factory Modified choke. They made 2 1/2 times more full choke barrels than modified, so that is nice to find in a collectible Winchester Model 42. Fine examples of an honest M42 continue to have a strong following and as such are great investment guns and a hoot to shoot! Thanks for looking.
