It is the first book written about the Colt Root Sidehammer in more than 50 years. It includes descriptions of the collection I have listed on Guns International. I describe in detail each of the 13 models of this percussion revolver produced by Samuel Colt in the mid 1800s. I share with you my knowledge and advice for collectors and others interested in our history. There are numerous color photos of the 13 models in their cases with the accessories that go with them. The book will come with my signature on the title page. This book has charts, descriptions, and high quality photographs pertaining to the Colt Root. See examples in the pictures attached.

This book has all the detailed information about dates and models and all the nice pictures you'd expect from a book on antique firearms--and it also has plenty of advice on buying guns, building a collection, taking care of it, and displaying it. What the author has to say about collecting Colt Roots applies to any kind of collecting, so if you collect something else, it's still a good read. And if you want to start collecting antique firearms, this would be a good place to start
2. If you are a Root collector, I can't imagine a better reference than this book. I have researched Root's in several Colt books and this is by far the best reference out today. What I call his "cheat sheet" is a must when considering a purchase at a gun show, online or anywhere else. It recently saved me from a bad purchase at a gun show. The money you spend on this book will save you much more in the future.
3. As an old and long term collector of Colt revolvers I believe this book to be of interest to beginning as well as advanced collectors. It has detailed information and pictures of the 13 models of the Colt Root as well as other interesting information and comments.. It is well worth the modest price to anyone interested in percussion revolvers.
