Description:
One of the most common imitations of the Brunton Compass this "Brinton Pocket Transit Compass" is made of Brass and would be a great addition to any collection. Has a hinge top and bottom underside has an armature which controls range finder inside compass. All heavy metal; the mirror and glass are intact. One of the levels has worked it way loose but, there are screws in the bottom so there is easy access to the insides for a quick fix. The Brass Brinton Compass can be used for finding directional degree measurements with the help of Earth's magnetic field There is a straight vertical line in the mirror for alignment.
Engraved on the top is "Brinton Compast C.S.N. Thos J. Evans Esq. London MKI 1862".
