This beautiful 17th century sword was cut down from a katana and remains in original polish. It is not signed. You can see the hamon {temper line) from the base all the way to the kissaki. The habaki is silver and has a beautiful rain pattern. Beautiful iron tsuba with kiri leaves deeply chisel engraved. The fuchi is decorated with carp and flowers with plenty of gold remaining. The tsuka has its original same and tsuka ito. The kashira is beautifully adorned with a man and a buffalo. Both menuki are present and adorned with flowers with silver and gold remaining. The original saya is present with most of its black lacquer remaining. The sageo is missing on the saya. The original kogotana is present and the kozuka matches the flower decoration on the menuki and fuchi. Full length of the blade is just over 20 inches with a single hole. The blade remains extremely sharp. From the tsuba the blade measures 16 inches. A stunning wakazashi in its original mounts and scabbard. SOLD |
