Description:
- Sioux Beaded Knife Sheath with Early Skinning Knife
- This is a late 19th century Sioux beaded sheath with stag handled skinning knife. The sheath is decorated with geometric patterns in red, white and blue seed beads all sewn to the rawhide backing with sinew. The decorative drops/ tassels and tin combs are contemporary to the sheath, however the feathers were added at a later point. The 4.75" skinning knife blade is factory made in the early Marbles style but no manufacturer's mark remains. However on the ricasso, the capital letters J. G. T. appear. At some point, a deer antler handle was added. This is a beautiful piece of Americana, fit for any collector of Native American craft or woodsman's craft.
