Description:
The rifles produced by the Winslow Arms Co are an over the top example of fine artistry in wood and metal.  This particular rifle was hand carved as well as signed and dated by Art D. Kroll in Jan. 1974 (see pic. no. 7).  The stock is the Plainsmaster version of the three stock options. The Plainsmaster had the highest available styling, with the rosewood forend and pistol grip caps, rollover comb, flared recoil pad and iconic winslow pistol grip shape.  The 6 Ivory and Ebony inlays, basketweave checkering, and oak leaf carvings are absolutely superb on this fine rifle.  The metal is highly engraved throughout the receiver and twelve inches forward of the receiver on the barrel. There is a small area of engraving on each side of the barrel at the muzzle, as well as the trigger guard.  The scope base and rings are engraved as well, which is rarely seen.  I believe the engraveing to be the work of  master engraver John Westby Gibsen.  The scope is a Bausch and Lomb Belvar 8B, which is period correct for this rifle, and most likely ordered as such.  This rifle is chambered in the popular 300 Weatherby Magnum Caliber.  The bore of the 26" barrel is excellent which would indicate lighter use and great care and storage.

I have had the action removed from the stock and inspected for any issues such as rust or corrosion, of which there are none.  This is an all out example of a Winslow Arms rifle built in the company's hay day. This rifle could fall under the Imperial Grade, or Emperor Grade specs, as they were custom ordered and hard to research.  I hint at this observation because of a footnote on the Emperor grade which calls for 11" of engraving ahead of the receiver as opposed to the 12" this rifle displays.  All in all one of the more spectacular Winslow rifles ever built and in near mint condition overall.
