Sometimes you find a favorite gun...one that can perform most all of your shooting fun. Hunting upland birds, turkey, waterfowl, maybe even some close-in stuff like grouse or pen raised birds over dogs, anything done with a 12ga. This could be your gun. When John Olin wanted to have title to the strongest side by side shotgun in the world, he went to work and got it done. The Model 21 is an American icon in the double gun world and its reputation is well deserved. A strikingly handsome gun with the finest single selective trigger ever devised, gunners in the know have utilized this Winchester in the field and at the club to shoot thousands of rounds without failure. This particular M21, sn30494 built in 1954, came from the factory with 30" barrels choked M/F, and an additional set of 26" choked IC/M to make it a "do-all" set. Shipped as your standard Field Grade it was later returned in 1966 for work and the factory letter notes that it was received with #6 engraving. At that time Winchester restocked the gun and restored the barrels and went through all the mechanics to make it new again, and the gun remains as it did when it left the factory in 1966. The stock has lost 1/4" LOP, the barrels, chokes, etc. are as originally shipped. The engraving is very nicely done, with 3 white gold grouse inlaid on the bottom of the receiver. In fact, if you look closely you will see engraving that is superior to most of the work coming out of the Winchester Custom shop in the later years, with much deeper cuts and a lot more detail in the scroll and game animals. Housed in a custom fit case including Winchester trade label and all accessories, with nicely figured factory wood a factory pad, and gorgeous engraving, you will be quite proud when you show up at the gun club to shoot trap and clays. To own a factory 2 barrel set in as new condition with beautiful engraving at this kind of price is a grand investment opportunity and a lifetime of shooting pleasure.
