Description:
This rifle with a 23" barrel was built in 1938, which was the 5th year of production for the model 63. All aspects of this rifle are consistent with early 23" guns, from the straight cut (non crowned) muzzle to the barrel script, factory taped upper tang and smooth (un-checked) steel buttplate. Gun carries 90% blue on the barrel with the receiver, fore end cap and buttplate turning a plum color. The proof marks are crisp as well as the barrel script, and the bore is excellent. Sight package is original to this gun. Wood is quite nice on this gun and fits proudly to the metal parts. Doesn't appear to be refinished in any way and has virtually no wear and handle marks.
