Astra (Nazi) 400 Cal. 9mm Largo, Ser. 95885.
According to Jan Still's book "Axis Firearms" and Leonardo Antarris book "Astra Firearms" the first Nazi contract was for 5899 Astra 400s. The contract started with Ser. 92,951 and continued to 98,850. These gun were not Nazi stamped with the inspector's Waffenamt. You will note that this lovely example is just about in the middle of the above contract. The condition is super, retaining about 97-98% of the original military blue finish. There is the usual muzzle and sharp edge silvering and and two small patches of surface pinpricks on the left side. As usual, from the holster. The nickle plated parts appear to be at the least 99%. There are no scratches and the grip straps have not grayed. All parts match and are correct for the gun. The wooden grip panels are super clean with no splits, chips or flattened points. The grip screws are unmarred. Only 5899 of these first contract 400s were ever made. How many do you think have survived and are not already in collections? Not very many I'll venture. This is a winner for the prudent collector or investor..... $1795.
