Description:
Originally manufactured by Walther in 1944 for NAZI "commerical" sales to officers and other persons authorized to possess a gun, this Mod. HP was destined for service in the Austrian Army after WWII.  In 1955 Austria regained it's sovereignty and the new Austrian Army, the Bundesheer (BH), adopted the P.38 as it's standard pistol.  In refinishing, only the Mod. HP was to have the slide legend removed to avoid any confusion between the "P.38" and "Mod. HP" nomenclature.  (Buxton's Vol. 3, p. 61).  The exact number of fMod. HP's acquired by the Austrians is not known, but is  estimated to be between 300-500.

This is a very nice sexample of an all-matching Austrian BH, Mod. HP, complete with the Nazi commercial proofs and Austrian Army markings.  Excellent condition and comes with the original Walther box and papers as imported by Interarms.
