Description:
.45 caliber, 30" heavy barrel measuring 2" across the muzzle and 3/4" across the barrel flats. The false muzzle and scope inhibitor measure an additional 1 1/2" in length. Weight is 29 lbs. Marked "J.F. BROWN/ CAST STEEL" on the barrel and is most likely J.F Brown Haverville, Ma. The back action engraved and casehardened lock, hammer, and breech are unmarked. The engraved triggerguard, patchbox, and buttplate are German silver. The full length scope measures 36" and is marked "T. AMADON/ B FALLS/ VT". In superb condition retaining most of the barrel brown, nice case colors remaining on the lock and hammer. Excellent wood and mounts. Mint bore. Large numbers of these were purchased by the Army Corps of Engineers to used as long range sniper rifles.
