Smith & wesson DA Frontier Revolver - 1st Model - Cal. .44 S&W Russian - 4" Bbl. - SN 11XXX(1880s) - all matching numbers - also known as the "New Model Navy Revolver". Bore is excellent - bright and shiny with sharp rifling and only a few areas of mild roughness - action is excellent with perfect timing, lock-up, extraction, and ejection. Metal is excellent overall with no rust, pits or corrosion - retains abut 60% + factory nickel with the balance flaked and worn - sharp markings - bright case color on trigger. Grips are excellent and undamaged with sharp checkering and logo. About 53,500 of this model were made from 1881 - 1913 - all frames were manufactured prior to 1899 so this model is considered an Antique. A favorite DA revolver in the Old West and was used by John Wesley Hardin and Belle Starr among others. This DA Frontier is all original and unaltered in VG+ to about FINE condition overall and will make a nice addition to an early West collection.
