You rarely see these come up for sale. This is a Springfield Armory M1C Garand sniper rifle. Serial number 3660816 dates to late WW2,March 1945. Barrel is Springfield dated July 1944, with a very good bore and an muzzle wear reading of 1 1/2. M82 Telescope with clear glass. Matching serial number scope base. All metal parts and conditions are described below. No import marks.

GI walnut stock with stars & eagle on the left side, circle "P" on the pistol grip. Very nice looking stock with just minor dings. Leather cheekpad marked "MRT 2-52". A flash hider is also included.

This M1C Garand was originally purchased from the Civilian Marksmanship Program, the CMP certificate of authenticity is included.

Part Details:

Receiver: marked “D 28291 35” on leg, heat lot 081B. Excellent condition, no pitting.

Barrel: marked “S-A-7 44” in op rod slot, also marked with various other letters and a couple of punch marks. Bore is bright but not quite like new, rifling and crown very good, chrome pads at gas port. External finish is in excellent condition.

Barrel Gauge Readings: Muzzle Wear: 1 1/2, Throat Erosion:  3

Flash hider: marked “1005-50-726-6434”. Parkerized finish, in nearly new condition.

Telescope: M82, marked “TELESCOPE M82 SERIAL NO. 32788 STOCK NO. 84374”. Knob base plates marked “7634671”, knob caps marked “7575180”. Glass clear, very little internal debris, although the post has a few tiny particles on it. Looking inside with flashlight shows no corrosion. No dents, external matte finish very good with only a couple of minor abrasions.

Telescope base (attached to the receiver): marked “3660816”, the same serial number as the receiver. A closeup photo of the scope mount screws and pins inside the receiver is provided.

Telescope mount: marked “3370506”. Finish is blued or similar, no pitting but a few scratches.

Telescope rings: Same finish and condition as the mount.

Lower band: 2-piece flat top with roll pin

Clip latch: late square front type, unmarked

Op rod: flat side, unmodified, marked “D35382 9 SA. Exc condition, no pitting, some finish wear from contact.

Op rod catch: late type, unmarked

Bullet guide: stamped without notch, unmarked

Follower: late type, marked “12”

Follower arm: no bevel

Follower rod: long fork, riveted

Bolt: marked “D28287-12SA W9B”

Sight knobs: SA lockbar with squared ends, knurled knobs, long pinion

Rear sight cover: late type with ribs

Rear sight aperture: double track, unmarked

Trigger housing:  marked “D28290-18-SA” Small pad, cloverleaf hole, excellent condition, no pitting,

Trigger guard: stamped with milled hook

Trigger: late type, no extra hole

Hammer: marked “C46008-9 SA”

Hammer spring plunger: late type without wings

Safety: round top, marked “SA_11”

Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring. Gas cylinder group finish in excellent condition

Front sight: 0.66 wide, unmarked

Gas cylinder lock: beveled front, unmarked

Gas cylinder screw: cross slot poppet valve type, marked “P” and “O”

Stock: walnut, late type with trap. Circled “P” on pistol grip, DAS (stars and eagle) on left side No cracks, less than average dings/gouges, very nice appearance.

Cheekpad: leather, excellent used condition, marked “MRT 2 52.

Handguards: walnut, no cracks, same condition as stock

Buttplate: round plunger, very good condition with little finish wear.
