Payment Types Accepted: checks, cashiers/bank check, money order Description: 1895 RIFLE IN THE RAREST CALIBER, .40-72, MADE 1899, when I got this rifle I knew it had gone back to the Winchester factory as it had barrel and receiver proof marks- the practice of stamping these proofs began in 1905- so I called the Cody Museum and found that this rifle was indeed returned to the factory as it originally left in .38-72 caliber, so it was obviously returned and re-barreled in .40-72 sometime after 1905, fine barrel blue overall showing light age only, fine blue on the magazine, on the bolt and thinning blue on the more protected areas of the lower receiver sides, exc. wood with tight wood to metal fit, MINTY BORE, original buckhorn and blade sights, no extra holes, exc. markings, 100% factory Winchester in a seldom seen caliber.
